Dear Colleagues,We would like to announce the first European Proficiency Test for Pesticide Residues in tea (EUPT-T01), organised by the European Union Reference Laboratory for Residues of Pesticides in Fruits and Vegetables on behalf of the European Commission, Health & Consumer Protection Directorate-General (DG-SANCO).
Regulation (EC) No 882/2004 (Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, published at OJ of the EU L70 of 16.03.2005, and last amended by Regulation 839/2008 published at OJ of the EU L234 of 30.08.2008) lays down the general tasks, duties and requirements for EURLs for Food, Feed and Animal Health. Among these tasks is the provision of independently organised comparative tests. Furthermore, Regulation (EU) No 1235/2012 amending Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 669/2009 as regards the increased level of official controls on imports of certain feed and food of non-animal origin, indicates that tea samples coming from China should be analysed for pesticide residues with multiresidue methods based on GC-MS and LC-MS or with single-residue methods. Taking this into consideration, the EURL for pesticides in Fruits and Vegetables at the University of Almería, Spain, has organised a proficiency test for pesticide residues in tea. This proficiency test will be carried out in a way which simulates, as far as possible, the real sample conditions. For this reason, the sample sent to the laboratories for analysis of the present pesticides using their multiresidue methods will be a commercial incurred tea sample.
This EUPT-T01 is directed at all National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) and all Official Laboratories (OfLs) in the EU Member States. Laboratories outside this EURL/NRL/OfL-Network may be allowed to participate on a case-by-case basis. Participation in this intercomparative study remains on a voluntary basis and is free of charge for those laboratories that have participated in EUPT-FV15.
