Survey on the Commodity-Scope of Official Labs
As part of the 2nd Comprehensive Pesticide Lab Survey a sub-survey on the commodity scopes of the official EU-laboratories (OLs) was conducted. OLs from EEA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland) and EU candidate countries (Croatia, FYROM, Turkey) were also invited.

Some results of this survey, which was conducted by the EURL-SRM on behalf of all 4 EURLs, are shown below
Joint Network of Official Pesticide Residue Labs
The scene of official pesticide residue labs (OLs) within the EU is highly diverse as regards the scope of commodities and pesticides covered. More than 80% of the OLs (including NRLs) perform pesticide-residue-related activities belonging to the responsibility area of more than one EURL (see Tables 1, 2 and 3). Moreover, in most labs activities corresponding to more than one EURL are often conducted by the same persons (data not shown).
This situation asks for the creation of a Joint Network and for a high degree of cooperation and coordination among the 4 EURLs on pesticides. The EURL-SRM, being responsible for all commodity types, has a special position that calls for close collaboration with all OLs, NRLs (Table 2).
