The Community Reference Laboratory on Pesticide Residues in Cereals and Feedingstuff announces its fourth European Proficiency Test EUPT-C4 on cereals for MRM pesticides.

The Test Material will be rye with incurred and spiked pesticides. You will receive at approximately 150g of treated and approximately 100 g of a blank test material. The PT evaluation will treat each compound individually. However, a summed evaluation/ranking of the overall lab performance including MRM pesticides is also envisaged. According to our calendar for the EUPT-C4 the expected sample delivery will be 15 February 2010 and deadline for result submission will be 14 March 2010. If any laboratories have holidays during this period, please inform us so that we can rearrange shipment.

The aim of the test is to provide laboratories with an assessment, both of their analytical performance and the reliability of their data - in comparison to other laboratories. This will hopefully result in positive changes and quality improvements at each of the laboratories.

The PT is open for all national reference laboratories (NRLs) and official laboratories (OfLs) in the field of cereals and feeding stuff . Participation is mandatory for all laboratories selected as NRL for pesticides in cereals and feedingstuff and, according to Art. 28 of EC Reg. 396/2005, for all official laboratories undertaking the analysis of these commodities for the official controls on pesticide residues. If participation is not possible, the Commission expects an explanation to be given by the laboratory.
